Once again, this was an advertisement from a 1971 issue of The Economist for an airline which no longer exists. The name of the airline has been hidden everywhere. Are you ready? Scroll down!
How to guess it?
The “Sunshine States of America” expression used on this advertisement would most likely be used by an airline based in the “Sunshine State” (Florida). The mention of a London – Miami route serves as another clue towards this. In addition, what if the airline used a sun as a logo? But above all, there’s the slogan “I’m (name of girl here). Fly me.” Only one airline ran this type of advertisement at the time. Only one airline was famous for it: National Airlines. If you answered Pan Am, you were close, but not close enough. National Airlines didn’t merge with Pan Am until about 10 years later (1980).
