Guess The Airline – November 2009 answer

Every month, an airline printed advertisement, minus airline name and logo, is displayed for your guessing pleasure on Guess The Airline. The following is the answer to a previous game.

Once again, this was an advertisement published on a Time Magazine issue of 1990 in Canada. Are you ready? Scroll down!

Swissair advertisement titled: 'Presenting Europe's favourite rapid transit system' from the year 1990, featuring a mock public transit system map.

How to guess it?

The font used for the titles and the slogan was crucial, as it is unique to this airline. The slogan itself was important. The colors of the map, which mimicks a subway or commuter train map, may have been a clue as well. But above all, the map itself! Yes! With some basic geography notions, and by guessing the tiny city names that appear, one could assume that the hub in question was Zurich! By the way, the text and some graphic elements were completely redone for the advertisement due to the poor quality of the original scan.
