Guess The Airline – January 2000 answer

Every month, an airline printed advertisement, minus airline name and logo, is displayed for your guessing pleasure on Guess The Airline. The following is the answer to a previous game.

The second “game” was much easier than the previous one. Everybody had the correct answer, according to the email messages I got! This ad was taken from the back cover of a National Geographic issue of the 1970s, United States version.

Northwest Orient Airlines advertisement titled: '747s anyone?', from the 1970s, featuring many pictures of Boeing 747 service.

How to guess it?

This one was extremely easy to guess. There were actually three things to indicate you that it was Northwest Orient Airlines. First thing is that it is a Boeing 747 operator. This should already eliminate many airlines. Secondly, the cabin crew had the bright red uniforms… We’re getting closer! Finally, look at the routes flown by this airline. Many fly by Minneapolis/St. Paul. And today, that airline still uses Minneapolis as a major hub. You got it! It’s Northwest Orient Airlines, now known as Northwest Airlines.
